Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts
23th - 27th June
2010.
More family friendly than ever before…
Our village fete will be open each day from 11am here you can learn to stilt walk, ride a unicycle, decorate a cake, race up the field in a sack, have a go at Raku pottery, ride a vintage roundabout, win a coconut, have a tug of war, make a musical instrument, have tea and a chat with members of the Iona community, have your face painted, splat a rat and loads more. In the famous Avalon Café you will find a full menu of good wholesome vegetarian food at the main counter, and a range of tasty paninis at the Panini bar. Have a cup of real ground coffee or grab a beer from the Ridge & Furrow Inn next door, and enjoy the myriad delights of a fully programmed stage between 10.30 am to 3 am. Acts this year include Charles Hazlewood and the Allstars, ABOUT with Alexis Taylor and John Coxon, and Lloyd Grossman in his punk band The New Forbidden (yes, punk band!).
The wenches in the timber-framed Ridge & Furrow Inn serve superb local real ale and musicians and magicians provide the entertainment. Drop in and rest your weary feet on our giant inflatable seats and see saws and enjoy that glorious sunshine (think positively!) in our beer garden, set in the shade of giant willow sculptures and a fearsome dragon.
And, wow, what a programme for the Avalon main stage!
